CITY LIFE MAGAZINE

Issue #13 - DECEMBER 2009

The City Life Team first discovered Bamboo, whilst “popping” in for a coffee during a visit to Southsea. We were impressed not only by the venue but also by the quality and friendliness of the staff.

The interior has been completely re-furbished to a high standard and has created a little of Asia within Southsea, and also a little of Southsea within Asia.

Although the venue has a history of entertainment and dining, the refurbishment of the building and it’s interior is only surpassed by the quality of the food that is served. The re-invention of this dining experience concentrates on the quality and diversity of Pan Asian Fusion cuisine. Inexperienced with the art of dining “Pan Asian Fusion Cuisine” City Life relied on the experience of the team that support the Bamboo. The impression given by all of the staff was that nothing was too much trouble, and in particular Amm (Jadet Lind) the manager of the establishment, was not only pleased to help in explaining the menu but was also keen to help us experience, not only the food that is offered but also complete dining experience.

"What we had" - SUSHI PLATTER

[including: Nigiri Salmon, Nigiri Tuna, Sashimi Tuna & Salmon, California Rolls]

- Tom Yam Chicken Soup

- Grilled Chicken Satay

- Vegetable Spring Rolls

- Stir-fry King Prawns with Hot Chilli & Basil

- Japanese Teriyaki Chicken Breast

- Egg Fried Rice

- Japanese Kirin Beer on Draught

The menu is varied, encompassing the flavours of Japan, Thailand and China. Following the requested advice of our host we chose a variety of food from the menu. Further explanation was that to experience the Asian way of dining, the art is to order several different foods from the menu and share them with your guests. The traditional starter and main course do not apply when dining in this manner, and the best way to enjoy the food is to dine as the food arrives at your table.

We were informed that the Japanese Sushi was of particular high quality and locally sourced, delivered fresh every morning. Bamboo are very privileged in having a qualified Sushi chef, thus ensuring that the Sushi served is varied and of traditional high quality. City Life therefore had to try Sushi and indeed was everything it had been described as. The presentation and the taste were

excellent and worth ordering when visiting Bamboo. The remainder of the food was equally well presented and the variety of tastes experienced left us with wanting much more.

"City Life would highly recommend a visit to Bamboo, especially for an evening out dining on wonderful food. You can also enjoy the party atmosphere at weekends when after your dinner you can dance to the resident DJ playing your favourite tunes. It is the perfect place to celebrate any special occasion with your friends and family. Indeed we plan many more visits."
